About:

The office of the District Sports Officer, Sivasagar is working towards the growth& development of Games and Sports in Sivasagar district. It works in coordination with the Sports & Youth Welfare Department, Govt. of Assam, District Administration, Sivasagar, Line Departments, Various Sports Associations & Clubs, Sportspersons,Public etc.

The District Sports Office undertakes and implements the various Projects and Schemes of the Sports & Youth Welfare Department such as: -

1. Development and Up-gradation of playfields and Stadiums in rural & urban areas.
2. Providing Scholarship and Pension to Sportspersons.
3. Providing sports Equipment/ Goods to sportsperson, Sports Association and Clubs.
4. It organizes various Games and Sports Tournaments, Competitions, Coaching Camps at the School & College level, Block level and District level.
5.  It organizes various Awareness Events/ Programmes of the Government.
6. It works towards the talent identification and provides exposure to the players and athletes.

Projects & Schemes:

CHIEF MINISTER’S SAMAGRA GRAMYA UNNAYAN YOJANA (CMSGUY)

• Introduction of the Scheme (Ongoing)

          Assam Youth Development Mission Society (AYDMS) formed under Chief Minister’s SamagraGramyaUnnayanYojana (CMSGUY) has decided to develop Football playfields for the promotion of Games & Sports in the state through Sports & Youth Welfare Department, Govt. of Assam during 2017 - 2018. It has been proposed to develop Football playground & playing facilities like Volleyball court having dressing room, store cum office & toilet facilities. A boundary wall will also be provided for the protection of the playground. The schools, colleges, clubs & other sports organizations having playgrounds measuring minimum of 120 mtrs in length x 90 mtrs in breadth will be considered for development.

• Facilities proposed to be created:

1. Improvement of the existing playfield with earth-filling, levelling with approved soil or as per requirement.
2. Turfing with local suitable grass.
3. Dressing room for boys, girls & officials with electricity & provision for adequate running water in the toilet.
4. Fixing of Football Goalpost of standard size (one pair) 24 feet x 8 feet made of GI Pipe of 4” to 5” in diameter with white paint.
5. Boundary Wall.
6. The playing facilities for Volleyball can also be developed where spaces are available.
7. Sports goods & equipment.

• Maximum fund proposed for development of each playground : Rs. 20,00,000/- (Rupees Twenty Lakhs) only.

DISTRICT LEVEL (SMALL KHELO INDIA CENTRES) FOR GOVERNMENT ORGANIZATION (ONGOING)

A District Level (Small Khelo India Centres) for Government Organization in Sivasagar District under Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. of India is selected for providing Sports Training/ Coaching to willing children and providing sustainable source of livelihood outside the Government set-up to Past Champion Athletes. Citizen Services:

Sports Talent Search Scholarship –For State & National level, school student below 19 years & for non-student, college & university student up to 25 years as on 31st March 2022 would be considered, showing proficiency in the field of Games & Sports.

Quantum of Scholarship:

State Level: the value of the scholarship shall be:    

• GOLD Medal  : Rs. 12,000/-
• SILVER Medal   : Rs. 10,000/-
• BRONZE Medal  : Rs. 8,000/-

National Level: the value of the scholarship shall be:

• GOLD Medal  : Rs. 20,000/-
• SIVLER Medal : Rs. 18,000/-
•  BRONZE Medal : Rs. 16,000/-

Total number of State Level application forms received & submitted to DSYW, Assam from applicants (sportsperson) of Sivasagar District : 226 Nos. (On 16.09.22).

Total number of National Level application forms received & submitted to DSYW, Assam from applicants (sportsperson) of Sivasagar District:49 Nos. (On 16.09.22).

REGULAR SPORTS PENSION & ONE TIME FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE (EX GRATIA) 2021-2022 FOR MEDAL WINNERS

Regular Sports Pension at Rs. 10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand only) per month to 98 (Ninety Eight) Medal Winners in Olympics, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games & National Games from the State of Assam.

One Time Financial Award, 2021-2022 at Rs. 50,000/- (Rupees Fifty Thousand only) to 157 (One Hundred & Fifty Seven) Medal Winners in Olympics, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games & National Games from the State of Assam.
