Maidam at Charaideo

Maidams are burials mounds of the Ahom Kings, Queens & Nobles. The word maidam is derived from the Tai word Phrang Mai -Dam or Mai -tam. Phrang means to put into the grave or bury and dam means the spirit of death. There are many maidams existed throughout the districts, but the well preserved are at Charaideo, 30.0 Kilometers away from Sivasagar Town towards east.
